Section 20-1500 STANDARDS: WATERFRONT RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

Section 20-1501 For private, shared recreational facilities or uses that have water frontage, the following standards must be met:

Section 20-1502 Camping is not permitted except as an accessory function of a larger resort complex.

Section 20-1503 Vehicle parking is permitted only as necessary for reasonable access to the location.

Section 20-1504 One dock per lot may be constructed which meets the following requirements:

1. A dock may not extend into a lake more than one hundred feet (100') or to a point where the water is at least four feet (4') in depth, whichever is the most reasonable given the historical length of docks in the area.

2. The dock site and length will be determined by the effect of the intrusion on safety, wildlife and the natural character of the wetlands.

3. The amount of dock which extends into the adjoining body of water may be made a condition of the permit.

4. A dock in a river may be no greater than six feet (6') in width or length. (See Diagram Article 3)

5. The length of a dock parallel to the shore may not exceed twenty-four feet (24'), so that it will not negatively effect the natural character of the shore/wetland.

6. A dock constructed parallel to the shore must be located as close as possible to the shoreline, so it will not interfere with safe navigation.

7. No building may be placed on a dock.

Section 20-1505 If a dock is to be constructed in a wetland, then Wetlands Permits must be obtained from Forest Home Township and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

Section 20-1506 The lot must have a minimum of one hundred feet (100') of waterfront or be a nonconforming lot.

Section 20-1507 Not more than three (3) motor powered crafts shall be moored per one hundred feet (100') of lot width.

Section 20-1508 One (1) raft shall be allowed per one hundred feet (100') of lot width.

Section 20-1509 Plans for any permanent recreational apparatus must be shown on the site plan. but may not be located in a required setback or greenbelt area.

Section 20-1510 All uses shall be compatible with the adjacent property uses.
