FOREST HOME TOWNSHIP
Regular Meeting
July 2, 2009

Meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M.

Officers Present: T. Smith, S. Mahan, T. Kent, D. Crandall, D. Steiner

Guests: L. Gallagher, M. Randolph, T. Malone

Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion by Kent to approve the Agenda with the following change – Parks & Recreation Committee Update to immediately follow Public Comment . Supported by Crandall and carried.

Parks & Recreation Committee Update: A portable toilet has been set up at Arrowhead Park. The carry-in boat launch project at the Forest Home Township Park on Torch Lake is nearing completion. Mark Randolph has completed the Grant application for funds to purchase 300’ on Lake Bellaire.

Motion by Mahan to approve Resolution #3 of 09/10 (Master Plan Addendum – Future Land Use Plan). Supported by Crandall and carried with the following voting:

Aye: Kent, Crandall, Smith, Mahan
Nay: Steiner

Supervisor Smith reported that Proposal 15 – Shoreline Protection has been drafted by the Planning Commission. The next step in enacting this Ordinance will be the dissemination of the document to Forest Home Township residents at a Public Hearing.

Motion by Steiner to take the next step in the dissemination of Proposal 15 for public comment. Supported by Kent and carried.

Motion by Kent to offer S. Marek $6,000.00 to purchase Lot 12 ( immediately adjacent to the Township Hall property) to aid in the construction of a Rain Garden to facilitate the diversion of water runoff from the Township Hall property with the stipulation that the Willow Trees planted on Lot 12 will remain and that no structures will be erected on Lot 12 – The paving of Ann St. to be contingent on approval from the Village. Supported by Mahan and carried.

Motion by Smith to reappoint Paul Trumble to the Planning Commission for a three year term. Supported by Kent and carried.

Motion by Kent to approve the minutes of the 06/04/09 Meeting. Supported by Crandall and carried.

Motion by Smith to approve expenditures in the amount of $167,296.00. Supported by Crandall and carried.

Treasurer’s Report was given.

Planning Commission Update: The Committee has been discussing commercial windmills and what ordinances, if any, may need to be looked at to govern their presence in the township. They have also been discussing rules to cover our public parks. They will refer that responsibility to the Parks and Recreation Committee.
