August 19, 2008
Joint Meeting with Kearney Township
Meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. Kearney Township Hall 202 N. Bridge St. Bellaire, MI.
Officers Present: T. Smith, S. Mahan, T. Kent, D. Steiner Forest Home Township
Absent: D. Crandall
Officers Present: T. Comben, S. Petrie, M. Cole, E. Niepoth, R. Kotz Kearney Township
Motion by R. Kotz to approve the Agenda Supported by M. Cole and carried.
Antrim County Commissioner D. Howelman explained to the Boards the current situation between the Commission on Aging and Area Seniors as it pertains to the facilities being sublet by Area Seniors to the Commission on Aging and the financial responsibilities for payment of expenses.
Following a lengthy discussion between both Boards regarding parking issues at the site, current easements on the land, the specifics of the lease between the Area Seniors and the Commission on Aging and legalities of the townships deeding public lands to a special interest group .
Motion by T. Smith to deny at this time the request by Area Seniors that the land south of Thayer Alley be deeded to them for the purpose of building a large multi purpose building. Supported by T. Kent and carried with the following:
